Heyfriend,

TODAY, my dad would have celebrated his 80TH birthday. His first in heaven.

Also today I had my very last FIRST day of High School with my youngest who is now a senior in High School. VERY emotional Day!! 

I'll be honest, I didn't know how to sit with that. But somewhere in the quiet of it, I found myself looking through old photographs. And I was so grateful they existed. The ones where he's laughing at something silly. The ones where he's holding my hand. The ones that prove, without question, that he was here and that he was loved.

That's why I do this work.

And this fall, I want to gently encourage you to do something that might feel small but is actually enormous: bring your parents or grandparents to your session.

Not the whole extended family, just them. A quiet afternoon with the people whose hands have held yours the longest. Because those portraits, the ones of your kids climbing into grandma's lap or grandpa's eyes crinkling when he laughs, those are the ones you will reach for someday.
